Mac CD-ROM installation (OS 9 or OS X)

  1. Insert CD-ROM 1 and then copy the contents from the CD (but not the disk itself) onto the Top Level of your hard drive. This will include a folder called Emotions.
     
  2. Unless you already have QuickTime 5 or greater installed on your computer, install QuickTime. Run the QuickTime installer which will prompt you step-by-step through the install procedure. The installer is supplied on CD-ROM 1 (see the folder QuickTime Installer MAC in the folder QT).
     
  3. Insert CD-ROM 2 and then open the folder on the disk called Emotions. Copy the contents of this folder (but not the folder itself) into the folder called Emotions (which you have already copied onto the TOP level of your drive from the first CD).
     
  4. Insert CD-ROM 3 and then open the folder on the disk called Emotions. Copy the contents of this folder (but not the folder itself) into the folder called Emotions (which you have already copied onto the TOP level of your drive from the first CD).
     
  5. Insert CD-ROM 4 and then open the folder on the disk called Emotions. Copy the contents of this folder (but not the folder itself) into the folder called Emotions (which you have already copied onto the TOP level of your drive from the first CD).
     
  6. To run Mind Reading double-click on the file Mind Reading located within the Mind Reading folder on your hard drive (the icon shows a white arrow on an orange background).
     
  7. The very first time you run Mind Reading you will be asked to enter your name and the serial number, provided with the disk. You will find the number on your registration card and on the cover of the User Guide.
     
    You also choose from the International or British version of Mind Reading at this stage (this affects spelling and regional accents). Please remember to complete and return your registration card.
     
  8. To run Mind Reading Manager make sure you are not running the main Mind Reading application, (choose Menu - Quit to exit), double click on MR_Manager, within the copied Mind Reading folder on your hard drive.
     
  9. Please read the printed User Guide carefully. To view the screen-based Help, double click the file help.htm in the folder Help in the Mind Reading folder on your hard drive. You will need a browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator to view the Help.


mac CD-ROM trouble-shooting

Take a look at the TOP LEVEL of your hard drive and see if you have a folder called MindReading and a folder called Emotions at this level.
 
Example: iMac/Emotions
or
Macintosh/MindReading
 
If you do not, you might have MindReading, MindReading 2 etc etc, on the top level, in which case then the install will not work.
 
SO...
  1. remove any copying of the CDs you have already done by dragging them into the trash and empty the trash.
     
  2. Take CD-ROM 1 and copy ONLY the folders MindReading and Emotions - individually - off of the CD and onto your hard drive at the TOP LEVEL so that they are two folders separately on your hard drive.
     
  3. Then from CD-ROM 2 copy the CONTENTS of the Emotions folder (should be numbered folders) on the CD into the Emotions folder you have just copied onto your hard drive.
     
  4. Then do the same thing from CD-ROM 3 and then from CD-ROM 4.
     
  5. Ensure you have QuickTime 5 or higher installed on your computer - you can do this from CD-ROM 1 by reading the ReadMe for instructions inside the QT MAC folder on CD-ROM 1.
     
  6. Once you have all of this on your computer then you should have an icon to click on inside MindReading folder called MindReading which will run the program.
